Yachting Monthly have carried out a detailed review of radar reflectors, subjecting 9 passives and Sea-me to testing both in an anechoic chamber and at sea. Sea-me outperformed all passives by a factor of at least 20 in terms of Radar Cross Section achieved and was given the accolade of PREMIUM PRODUCT. Sea-me's performance was so good that the trials team used it to keep a track of the trials boat whilst the various passives were erected.
The report brings home the relative ineffectiveness of passives. It should be read by all those interested in making sure they give themselves the best chance of being detected by radar. |
