| Licensing of Sea-me |
 |
Monday 10 January 2005
We advise all UK users of Sea-me to ask OFCOM for a Letter of Variation to their Ship Radio Licence to cover Sea-me. There has been an instance where a British yachtsman was fined by the Belgian authorities because Sea-me was not mentioned on his licence as a Radar Target Enhancer. OFCOM have started the process of changing the application form to include RTEs but of course some wheels turn exceedingly slowly.
Non-UK users are advised to contact their own authorities.
We emphasise that this is the only instance we know of where there has been a licensing issue. |
